Chico, CA - April 18, 2008…So far this
season few have been more consistent in Northern California than Chico’s
Jonathan Allard, but despite that fact he had not been able to crack victory
lane thus far in ’08. That all changed last night at Silver Dollar Speedway
however, with Allard dominating the main event en route to leading every lap for
his first win of the season.
“It feels good to come out here and get a
win and I have to thank all of our sponsors." Allard said. “This car was great
tonight and I want to give a big thanks to my crew chief Ashley Smith and the
rest of our team who make this thing so much fun to drive.”
Allard started from the pole in the
night’s 25 lap feature and blasted into the lead at the waving of the green
flag. The No. 0 was blazing fast right from the get go and the 31 year-old
driver easily pulled away from the field on every restart. A number of cautions
and a few reds slowed the pace of the main event, but it didn’t slow down Allard
as he continued to be in another zip code as the race neared the end.
With just a couple laps left Allard had to
deal with a slower car and it allowed Tyler Walker to close in, but the former
King of California remained calm and powered off turn four to pick up a
convincing win. The strong effort marked Allard’s 32nd career victory
at his home track and was possibly the team’s strongest performance of the
season, which comes at a great time as the year begins to heat up over the next
month.
Tonight Allard will head for the Petaluma
Speedway to do battle with the Golden State Challenge King of California Series.
Allard goes into the night with a 50 point lead in the standings over Mike Henry
and Tyler Walker and will look to increase that margin this evening.
